Yes, we do know that there exists a smartphone which runs on the Windows Phone platform known as the Nokia Lumia 610, but here is a refreshing take on said handset by the Finnish mobile phone manufacturers – by throwing in NFC (Near Field Communication) capability, and hence, the smartphone is now called the Nokia Lumia 610 NFC.

Nokia, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of mobile handsets has announced launch of two of its latest mobile phone releases, both of which utilize the Windows Phone operating system which a recent report indicated is now proving more popular with users of Nokia phones than the Symbian operating system.

This report demonstrates the vital importance of the relationship which Nokia has built with both Microsoft and Windows Phone, to the continued sales success of the company’s mobile devices, making the launch of these two new phones with the Microsoft developed operating system crucial.

The first of the two new phones that the company is offering the users of Nokia phones is the Lumia 610 NFC, a phone that Nokia is describing in publicity materials as a ‘cheapest smartphone’, retailing at a price of around £160 – which will be available to UK users of Nokia phones from the second half of 2012.

Not only will the Nokia Lumia 610 be the most affordable Nokia Lumia smartphone, it’s also one of the most forward-thinking. It is the first Nokia Lumia, and the first Windows Phone, to feature Near Field Communication (NFC) technology that will soon change the way we all use smartphones.

NFC is a fantastic technology that makes the fiddly things easy, and the easy things even easier. NFC technology has been floating in the background for a while up to now, but thanks to new handsets such as the Nokia Lumia 610 we can expect to hear lots more about NFC in 2012.

The other new phone launched by the company is the Lumia 900, which is an upgraded version of its more high-end smartphone. However the new Lumia 900 utilizes the Symbian operating system which offers possible indications of problems in the relationship between Microsoft and Nokia.

The Nokia Lumia 900′s eye-popping unibody design sets a new direction for smartphone style. Its LTE speeds, vivid 4.3-inch screen, and 8-megapixel camera are high points.

Nokia sorely needs a “superhero smartphone” with the looks, the speeds, the specs, and a price that will hush the doubters. With the Lumia 610 NFC and 900, Nokia proves that it has the ability to compete.

Were these indications accurate that this would be a further blow to Nokia, which saw itself overtaken as the biggest smartphone manufacturer last year, by the smaller rival company Apple.

It was this, combined with the company’s dip in the overall market share for the smartphone area, that saw it decide to practically abandon the Meego and Symbian operating systems used previously in Nokia phones, in favor of a marriage of convenience with Microsoft, that would see Nokia phones using the Windows Phone system.

Check this Gold Plated Nokia Smartphone Oro [World's Costliest Symbian-Powered Smartphone]

Further emphasizing the company’s commitment to this partnership, the newly developed Nokia apps store – Ovi – was integrated with the Windows Phone Marketplace, making any difficulties in this relationship, problematic for Nokia.

Nokia has launched a new gold-plated smartphone, Oro. The 'Oro', which translates to 'Gold' in Italian, comes in a 18-carat gold casing, leather coated back panel and a sapphire crystal in the home key. The smartphone is equipped with a redesigned interface, a portrait onscreen QWERTY, re-jigged social networking features and speed boost.

Nokia Oro Brings the Bling

Most of us have heard the proverbial adage — ‘all that glitters is not gold‘, but Nokia Oro is one smartphone that both glitters and is also made from gold!

The Finnish mobile giant has announced this new premium Symbian smartphone — the Nokia Oro, a geeky device that incorporates 18-carat gold plating, a sapphire crystal and leather lining, as well as a number of high-quality features.

The back cover is covered by finest quality Bridge of Weir leather, which is actually the best leather material available in market. The 18k gold frame comes along with Corning Gorilla Glass, which makes it stylish as well as tough. Along with the liberal use of gold, Nokia also offers a fancy-looking Nokia J Bluetooth headset, which too has been dipped in 18k gold.

The smartphone is equiped with a redesigned interface, a portrait onscreen QWERTY, re-jigged social networking features and speed boost. Nokia said that the new smartphone comes with a 3.5-inch AMOLED touchscreen, an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera, 720p HD video and the same connectivity options as Nokia C7.

In the past, phone manufacturers often created variants of popular phones with high-end metals and materials as a luxury item, and sometimes even partnered with designer clothing and fashion brands to create a statement. Nokia’s Oro is no different.

The main markets for the smartphone will be the Middle East and Russia, where such ostentatious displays of mobile technology are apparently the key to social standing.

A Closer Look At Nokia Oro [Video]

The Oro is available in white or black options, each with scratch-resistant gold-plated accents around the screen and camera, and with the back casing covered in fine Scottish leather. The main home key is crafted from sapphire crystal, although Nokia’s reasoning behind this – “eight times sturdier than glass” – seems to miss the point somewhat.

It’s shiny and fancy-looking, and is perhaps a nod to the ultra-premium phones created by Nokia offshoot company Vertu. The company expects to introduce the Oro from the third quarter in selected markets for approximately €800.

However, there is one thing it will lack though: a keyboard or number pad. Instead, users will depend on the capacitive touch screen.

Like all Symbian S60 5th Edition models, the Nokia X6 will come with a full web browser (including Macromedia Flash Lite 3.0 support) and email software.

It will be a ‘Comes with Music’ device, providing unlimited access to the Nokia Music Store for a limited time. Users will be able to listen to their songs with Bluetooth headsets, or connect regular ones through the 3.5 mm headset jack. And Nokia promises that this device will offer 35 hours of music playback or 4 hours of video playback.

The 5 megapixel camera will be able to record images and video, then the user will be able to edit the video, upload it, or play through the TV-out port. This GSM phone will have HSDPA 3G and Wi-Fi.

Nokia X3 Overview:

The Nokia X3 will have a similar look, but a different design. Feature-wise, Nokia X3 is essentially an S40 6th edition slider with smallish 2.2-inch QVGA screen and dedicated music keys. It has a 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera, quad-band GSM support with GPRS and EDGE, Bluetooth, FM radio, 3.5mm audio jack, microSD slot and integrated stereo speakers. Like its big brother, this phone will support ‘Comes with Music’. Users will need to get a microSD card for storing their files, but the X3 will come with a set of dedicated music and volume keys. The latest addition to Nokia’s music device portfolio is ideal for people who like to express themselves through their music and their communities. The Nokia X3 is a sleek and stylish slide phone with dedicated music and volume keys to control your sounds. It also has a combined send/end key and camera-shutter key for quick and easy operation. The design also features lighting effects around the dedicated ‘Navi’ key.

The Nokia X3 will offer software for email and instant messaging, web-browsing, and navigation with Nokia Maps. If this isn’t enough, it will also be the first Symbian S40 device to offer direct access to Ovi Store. In addition to its other features, the 3.2 megapixel camera will have support for video recording and editing.

The bottom line is that Nokia X Series is coming with a very promising range of models to woo customers from different social-economic classes with a bias towards love for music.

Not many days ago, I was Googling the web for any news updates on upgrades to Nokia E71. Not because E71 is bad, but because it has been 2 year since the E71 has been launched and Nokia usually follows up with its successful models sooner than later.

And recently I finally discovered the upgrade, Nokia E72 Business Phone with QWERTY keyboard. The phone looks almost like the E71 but with a much faster processor, more Built in memory and upgraded 5MP Camera. It also benefits from all the firmware upgrades of original E71 and is expected to be released on 12th of Oct 2009 (tentative date for USA release). Nokia E72 is slim, sleek and solid businesses Smartphone, which runs on Symbian OS 9.3, Series 60 v3.2 UI and is powered by ARM 11 600 MHz processor.

An official training for Nokia E72 has been done a couple weeks ago. The previous model, E71 have been a great hit in the market ever since it was launched. Since the demand is getting higher than expected, Nokia decided to launch another powerful model to satisfy the demands of the crowds.

The features and look and feel of this Phone are almost similar to E71. After all, why would you go and fiddle with something which is already perfect? But still Nokia has made very minor cosmetic changes — the width of E72 is fewer by mm and the keyboard has also been fiddled with in such a way that it appears that the keys are better than the old E71.

Processor:
All the major changes here are under the hood. The Nokia E72 has a faster 600 MHz processor (most likely the same 600MHz processor as in the Nokia E55).

RAM/Memory:
The RAM capacity is increased to 250MB which allows the device to scale up to 16GB of Memory Cards (E72 itself comes with a free 4GB card).Once the OS loads the free memory is likely to be 80MB and excess. So here is more memory for memory-hungry apps.

OS:
Includes S60 V3 Feature Pack 2, a highly refined UI and is very efficient and bug free. This is also a major upgrade. It improves multitasking, memory usage, power management and also changes in Menus.

Battery:
Battery remains the same , with BP-4L 1500mAH but the power management has improved. Nokia promises a 12.30 Hours of talktime against 10.30 Hours on E71 (Both on GSM Network).

Keypad:
A new optical navikey replaces the original D-Pad (center key with 4-way scroll). The optical navigation key makes scrolling through emails a breeze and also helps bounce around the menus quickly and easily. Two new keys are added in the bottom row by reducing the size of spacebar. The new keys are ‘Symbol’ and ‘!’.

Audio/Sound Quality:
3.5mm audio jack replaces the 2.5mm jack of E71. And an active Noise canceling filter has been added to improve voice clarity.

Camera:
The camera is upgraded to 5MP camera with LED Flash.

GPS:
E72 gets a magnetometer to sense the direction and assist the GPS on the phone. Nokia E72 Also comes with lifetime Explore license (pedestrian) and a trial (10 days) Drive-by license, if activated within the first three months.

Messaging:

Nokia Messaging is also on board (with a lifetime license) and now supports access and easy set up for Instant Messaging accounts including Yahoo! Messenger, Google Talk and Ovi, amongst others. Email set up is even easier than before through Nokia Messaging, Mail for Exchange and IBM Lotus Notes Traveler.

Enhancements in Nokia E72 from E71:
