OnePlus 2, the second generation smartphone from the highly talked about brand OnePlus, is going to be available via an invite system on their official site, just like OnePlus One, their first phone. OnePlus has confirmed that the first phase of invites for the OnePlus 2 smartphones are now ready and live. In a forum post, OnePlus said, “As Carl has already mentioned, (OnePlus 2) invites are still a necessity, but we’re striving to make the process as painless as possible thanks to more inventory, a reservation list, and a quicker rollout of shareable invites.

In a blog post, OnePlus has said, “Our early and most fervent supporters will be prioritized, those of you who have helped us spread the word and grow OnePlus from an unknown company to where we are today. Specifically, I’m talking about phone smashers, early forum members, early purchasers and the most active OnePlus One invite evangelists. We want to show you our gratitude by offering you some of the first invites to purchase the OnePlus 2.

The first batch of OnePlus  2 invites will start rolling out “shortly after the launch (or maybe even during),” as per the company statement. Those people who are not able to get the OnePlus  2 invites in the first phase rollout can still grab the invites by participating in various social media contests and promotions. Furthermore, the company has setup a webpage where users can get their invites to the OnePlus 2 by submitting their email IDs. OnePlus will then send an invite to these users when it is in stocks. “Everyone on the list will eventually receive an invite,” according to OnePlus.

OnePlus states that the OnePlus 2 may take up to 3 weeks before the smartphone is ready to ship and these invites are valid only for 24 hours. You can opt to share your invites though but to share invites, you’ll get 1-2 weeks.

OnePlus 2 is expected to be priced under $450, which is as good as it gets because the smartphone will come with 4 GB LPDDR4 of RAM, a high-performance 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor and a Type C-USB port. The Type C-USB port will support several new USB standards like USB 3.1, USB power delivery (USB PD), HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA with adapters etc.

Snapdragon 810 reportedly used to have heating issues but according to OnePlus, Qualcomm has now fixed the heating issues on Snapdragon 810 SoC for these OnePlus 2 smartphone. OnePlus 2 will also have a massive 3300mAh battery, so you can expect insane battery backup.

There have been rumors of a full-metal body version of the OnePlus 2 based on CEO Pete Lau’s posts on China’s Weibo. OnePlus 2 is the successor to the OnePlus One that received tons of accolades and gathered lots of fans for its specs and performance. So you can expect OnePlus 2 to live up to all the expectations as well.
