Apple on Tuesday announced that it will offer Black Friday discounts, though those hoping to snag some discounted Apple gadgets will have to wait until Friday for the details. The company teased its Black Friday sales event using somewhat vague promotional images that were posted to its website and sent out to existing customers via e-mail. The advertisement doesn’t specify what type of discounts will be available, but does promise that “you’ll find dozens of great iPad, iPod, and Mac gifts for everyone on your list.“
Keep in mind, though, that Apple usually doesn’t cut the price of its iOS products, instead offering big discounts on related accessories. For deals on iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches, you’ll probably have to visit an authorized reseller.
In previous years, Apple has offered small discounts on Macs and iPods, but not on iPhones. Accessories like Apple keyboards and mice, along with third-party products, have been discounted in the past, too. However, the consumer electronics giant has rarely ever needed to offer special deals to be competitive during the holiday shopping season. In fact, most analysts agree that the iPad will be this year’s hottest gift, with or without any discounts.
For the past two years, Apple has offered similar savings on Black Friday – $101 off the iMac and MacBook Pro, as well as savings on iPods and Apple TV. This year’s Apple Black Friday sales kicks off at 8 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 26, at all online and retail stores in the U.S. Apple has offered savings on iPhone accessories in the past, but not on the actual devices. Will that change this year, and will the actual iPad be in the mix? Keep you fingers crossed, guys!
