I do agree. ONLY numbers mean almost nothing unless they drive your targeted traffic and result in retweets!

I love Twitter, but I am not in it for the number of followers but the quality of those followers and those I follow. This may not suit everyone who is trying to appeal to a broad audience in order to sell or promote to that audience. But it certainly suits me and I do get traffic and I do get retweets from people who may not mix in other networks that I use, but who think I have something of interest to pass on to their folowers. .-= AJ´s last blogpost >> What Christmas coming already =-.

Then may be you should try giving another try. I have over 34,000 (yes, 34 thousands+) followers on Twitter and get a good amount of traffic from there.
