Google’s New Holiday Easter Egg: Searching ‘Let it Snow’ Brings Snow Flakes Down The Page

After the recent Do a Barrel Roll Easter Egg, Google is back with another — this time, a snow storm hits the screen on typing ‘let it snow’. Yes you heard it right — type ‘let it snow’ into the search engine, and snowflakes will start falling from the top of the screen.

Yes, just type in those three magical words when you visit Google and you’ll be treated to a new Easter egg. Not only that, the screen will start misting up too. You can even write in it by dragging the cursor, just like wiping your finger over a misted-up car window.

All you have to do is make your way to in either their Web or Image search engine to see it snow.

To Let It Snow go to and

1. Type: Let It Snow
2. Watch as snow flakes fall in a flurry
3. Use your mouse to clean off the screen
4. Scroll to the top and DEFROST your screen
5. Watch snow continue to fall

You can actually experience this on different Google search engines. We tested this on Web Search and Image search. There might be more Google products that you can use this in as well.

WARNING: I noticed that if you leave open your browser window for too long with ‘let it snow’ searched in Google, it tends to slow down your browsing ability as the browser can start taking as much as 50% CPU. A simple solution is to close the browser window/tab that has the Google page open and things should be back to normal.

And in case, you missed to notice, this is by far the coolest Google search trick since “do a barrel roll,” which produces a vintage video-game effect.

Other Easter Eggs to try in Google Search are these phrases (without quotes) to activate the hidden Google Easter Egg: tilt, askew, do a barrel roll, zz, rr, anagram, ascii art, recursion and let it snow. There are over 56 known Google Search Engine Easter Eggs and that list is growing every day.

This seems like it’s a great way for Google to get social media outreach and people to make it known that Google products like Google Chrome, Google Docs & Google Instant are the place to be.
